cPanel Email IMAP and SMTP Settings

To receive and send your Hostinap cPanel email through a desktop mail client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail) or your smartphone, you need to configure it with the correct IMAP and SMTP server settings. Here are the exact settings to use.

Your Mail Server Address

Your incoming and outgoing mail server is always: mail.yourdomain.com

Replace yourdomain.com with your actual registered domain name. For example, if your domain is mybusiness.in, your mail server is mail.mybusiness.in.

Find Your Exact Settings in cPanel

cPanel can generate these settings automatically for your specific account:

  1. Log in to cPanel and go to Email Accounts.
  2. Find your email address and click Connect Devices.
  3. cPanel will show you the exact IMAP/SMTP settings tailored to your account, along with auto-configuration links for Outlook and Thunderbird.

IMAP vs. POP3 โ€” Which Should You Use?

Always use IMAP. With IMAP, your emails are stored on the server and synced across all your devices (phone, laptop, tablet). If you delete an email on your phone, it is also deleted on your laptop. POP3 downloads emails to one device only and removes them from the server โ€” this is rarely what you want.

Troubleshooting: Wrong Password or Authentication Failed

If your email client says "authentication failed" or "wrong password" even though you know the password is correct, your IP address may have been blocked by CSF firewall due to too many failed login attempts. See how to unblock your IP from CSF firewall.
