How to Restore a Full Account Backup with JetBackup 5

If a WordPress update broke your site, or you accidentally deleted an important folder, there is no need to panic. Hostinap automatically takes complete snapshots of your account every day (and every 12 hours on Business plans) using JetBackup 5. Here is how to roll your entire account back in time.

Step 1: Open JetBackup 5

Log in to your cPanel dashboard. Scroll down to the Files section and click on the JetBackup 5 icon.

Step 2: Access Full Backups

On the JetBackup dashboard, click on Full Backups (the orange icon). This will display a list of all available restore points, ordered by date.

Step 3: Select a Date

Find a date and time before the issue occurred. Click anywhere on that row to select it. Once selected, the row will be highlighted, and action buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: Start the Restore Process

  1. Click the Restore button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. A "Restore Options" panel will slide out. By default, everything is selected (Home Dir Files, Databases, Cron Jobs, Emails, etc.).
  3. Click Restore Selected Items to confirm.

Step 5: Monitor the Progress

JetBackup will place your request in a queue. You can navigate back to the JetBackup dashboard and click on the Queue icon to watch the progress in real-time. Depending on the size of your account (e.g., a 20 GB WooCommerce store vs. a 500 MB blog), this process can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour.

Important: Do not make any changes to your website while the restore is running. Your site may briefly display errors or go offline while files are being overwritten.

When NOT to use Full Backup Restore

A full restore overrides everything in your account. If you only accidentally deleted a single image, doing a full account restore will also overwrite all new emails you received today, and any new WooCommerce orders placed since the backup was taken. If you only need to fix one specific thing, you should restore a single file or a single database instead.

Need More Frequent Backups?

While Shared plans get daily backups, our Business Hosting plans feature 12-hour backup retention, giving ecommerce stores double the protection against data loss.
